Here's a pic of the prototype stereo 2A3 amp that replaces Paramour II. This one has been running in my HT for a few weeks. No price or delivery yet, just wanted to let you guys see what we are working on.

Wooo Hooo!
Looks great!! Put a headphone jack and a switch to go from speakers to headphones, and you will get a couple more customers from Quebec.
I have exposed my SEX (you know what I mean) to the DIY shows in Montreal, and I think that people like it very much.
I would very likely buy a super-duper SEX with a switch for sources, and another one for speakers versus headphones.
I can picture it right now in my living room.
Very exciting!!!
Is the preamp section passive and if passive would the eros be compatible without the need for an additional active preamp?
Not to give away any secrets but i e:mailed HRH essentially the same question wrt eros/passive pre last weekend but didn't get a answer. I apologize for the newbie question, the eros page recommends your active pre and i don't know if that is dependent on the amount of gain of a given power amps output (or something like that)?
Eileen usually forwards the technical questions to me and I probably missed it. The Eros will work fine into a Stereomour. It's not a passive volume control, since the volume pot runs directly into the 12AT7 driver stage. Proximity is what determines whether a control is "passive" or not. In other words, if you took the volume control out of the Stereomour and put it in a different box, the circuit would be identical in schematic form, but the additional cabling between the volume pot and the grid of the input tube in the amp would redefine the setup as a "passive preamp".
The issue with the Seduction and the Eros is that they have a 4K ohm output impedance and thus they want to run into a fairly high impedance load. As a rough guideline 50K or higher would be a safe choice. That is not to say they wouldn't work at all into a lower impedance pot, but they will have the best tonal balance into a higher impedance load. The Stereomour has a 100K ohm input impedance so either the Eros or Seduction will be very happy when paired up with it, just as they will be with the S.E.X. amp. A cable between the two of 1M length or less will be optimal.
my Fi 2a3 amp's imput impedance is listed at 470 kilohms in a old audio buyers guide.
i don't know if that is correct and tried checking with new craftsman #82139 multimeter but can't get any readings from the two input rca's either off or powered up. i'm not off to a very good "diy"
electronics start.
i had thought a passive preamp consisted of a volume pot, selector, input/output plugs and nothing more?
..
Beautiful, Doc.
Would you mind telling us how you finished the base, the power transformer, and the autoformers? Are the stock channel frames silver or did you pretty those up too?
Thanks very much.
If I didn't already have the Paramounts I wouldn't be able to stop myself.

Looks cool! its a great idea sort of like a juiced up sex amp! What size is the top plate?
That's because it IS a juiced-up SEX amp! It has three inputs with a switch, but no headphone jack.
The plate is 10 by 12 inches. New iron, more like the Paramount parts, but otherwise basically the Paramour circuit.
As a happy SEX owner I was thinking the same thing.
This very well might be my next project. Money is a little tight right now with the economy and all but this could be my Xmas present for '09.
If it sounds as good as it looks, I'm in.
