I need a 6 channel preamp. I already have a six pole 11 position make before break switch. The easiest would be just a 6 channel "passive", maybe 10K, feeding the amps and the subwoofer.
However I was thinking of building an active stage modifying a FP3. I would install a third 12AU7 and use only one section of each tube as a cathode follower. The first question is: Can the power supply support a third 12AU7?
thanks
ps I'm, of course, talking about a non-extended FP with the OD3 regulator.
Follow Ups:
I have a power transformer, Halldorson 26r13. primary 117v, secondary 1-117v 300ma to be used half wave of voltage doubler application. secondary 2-6.3v @1a, sec3 6.3@2a, sec6.3v @9a.
I was going to build a 6ch foreplay II with it. I think the 117v is too low for the Foreplay III.
Nebraska Surplus sales has other Halldorson's with the voltage doubler secondary, might have the voltage you need.
Only set back is they are big. 4 1/2x 3 3/4".
I never have found a replacement for the PT3. Thats why I decided on a 6ch Foreplay II.

This should work just fine. You could also use the green C4S boards and put a load under each cathode. Does that switch actually fit in the FP III? Those things tend to get pretty huge.
thanks paul!
yes. the switch fits (barely) under the fp3 hood. I'll have more questions later in relation to the circuit conversion.
