Your post is very interesting to me as I have a pair of AN/E SPe's and was considering a similar upgrade. However, I'm confused with the history of your speakers. You wrote,"I have had a pair of AN/E HE speakers for about 7 months or so, then just recently received the hemp driver update for them"
Doesn't the AN/E HE by definition have the hemp driver? So did you change from an older hemp driver to a newer hemp driver? Or did you mean to say that you previously had a non-HE version of the AN/E's?
In any case, did you purchase the hemp drivers directly from Audio Note UK?

Hi,
The way it went for me was that I bought a pair of the last AN/E HE speakers that did not yet have the hemp drivers which are now standard. The HE speakers before the hemp had and (still have) the silver voice coils which I understand account for their increase in efficiency, not to mention the increase in detail. The hemp driver now adds a further level of detail to the AN/E HE speaker. Before the AN/E HE pre-hemp I had a pair of Kit 02 AN/E La's. Hope all this makes sense. Yes, the drivers came directly from Audio Note.
Mike
Mike,
Thanks for the clarification.
One more question - was replacing the previous drivers with the new drivers plug and play? Did you have to make any changes to the crossover or do any soldering?
