How do room dimensions effect Frequency responces (bass extension)

I know that if you divide the longest wall length into 566ft, you get a frequency where one octave below that you start a 6-12db roomgain (db depends on various parameters).

Low frequency waves can be really long..longer than some room walls. How does the room size/dimensions limit the low end extension.
