Last week I charged buyers in Asia $13 to ship one lp. This week it costs a whopping $24! That would be the usual 10-day airmail. I wonder if this will cool the lp market.
Follow Ups:
Is the one to use for Lps. It's actually slightly less than the old Air Letter Post.
Last week I received from the pressing plant the latest cd on my little label (no lps yet, but that is something I'd like to pursue.) I rushed to mail review copies before the rates went up, but had I some more to mail on Monday. I expected the 2 cents an ounce increase, but new regulations now say that flexible envelopes (like those containing a cd) can't be mailed at the letter rate but must go parcel post. The end result was to almost double my mailing cost. Yikes indeed!!!!
it would be nice to have your LPs if you get to make them, but the idea behind your label (you made me look, ya dirty crook...haven't heard that since you were 3, have you!) is intriguing as hell! There was a small label from Louisiana (I think) that I got Blues and Jazz LPs from 25 years ago. They had some really great stuff; LPs you'd never find anywhere else, much like your stuff. Somehow, they even got the LPs issued from Duke Ellington's radio years (during the recording ban). That label died with its owner, I believe...you are hereby commanded not to die. (I kept all their newsletters, but they are lost somewhere in a box because of our last move)
But sir, how can I get on your e-mail list when there's no SEND button, or am I just blind?

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
You can ship an LP either way. I'll bet the low rate was the latter and the high rate the former--it was always 6-7 dollars more for "Air Mail" than "Air Letter Post."
After a visit with the nice lady at my local P.O.Something like $24.00 to ship an LP overseas and that doesn't include packaging!!
I plan on confirming with actual packaged samples in the next couple of days. I'll have her check 2 or 3 countries.
Crap!!

. . they'll be able to raise their prices now too.
If that's representative of increased shipping charges to Canada, I won't be buying anything from the US anymore, unless I go across the border for shopping. Right now I've been buying a fair bit through eBay and Amazon.
I just wonder how severely diesel and gas prices will affect the tourist industry."I'd like to take the same cruise to Alaska I took last year?"
"Yes, that will be $45,000 more than you paid last year, sorry."
It costs big money to move any object, humans or LPs!

Digital as in, you know, MP3 downloads and such. No S&H costs at all, and you still get your music! Isn't that the point of it all?(Yeah right!!) :P

Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.
...high-rez digital downloads one day, which would be a HUGE positive step.(not letting go of my vinyl any time soon, but i do love the convenience and can get very good sound from high-rez digital files served from a hard drive.)
yes that will cool down the Lps market
