Follow Ups:
I have four armwands for my SME IIIs (with damping trough). In order of preference:Pickering TL-2s
ADC XLM Mk. II improved
Grace F9E (NOS stylus assembly)
Ortofon OM-30 (integral arm/cart)The Pickering is a P-mount and it's a struggle to get it on the SME arm; I used a stand-off between the arm and cart. It's way ahead of the ADC, but it's absolute dynamite on the RS-A1 arm I've been borrowing.
After playing a LOT with damping viscosities, levels, paddles, and such, I'm currently running the arm with no damping at all, and with little (or zero) anti-skate.
I think I'll go with the OM30 super or Dennon DL301 if I can find one or the 103D with a CINE-MAG step up.Thanks for the opinions and advice.
I should have the arm soon and I'm still trying to find the damping paddles. DO you think I cna make something simple that would work for now. I realy like the idea of damping the arm movement. If i cant find it I gues as long as the arm is in spec it shouldnt be to bad
Look at page 2 of SME information sheet 24 on Steve Clarke's site to see if you really need damping.http://www.theanalogdept.com/manuals.htm
If the resonance falls outside of the dark grey zone you're just enriching ePrey pimps and the like.
Don't get hung up on "correct" dampings fluids and paddles of the correct width.
Take yourself down to your local radio controlled car emporium, they use silicone oil forshock absorbers and differentials.
It's a lot cheaper than the supposed hi-fi stuff!
Some of my Thorens / SME combos are here

With an old ultra low mass arm, you need an old high compliance cartridge.Ortofon OM20/30
Ortofon VMS 30E
Empire 2000E IV
Shure V15 IIIHE or MR
I've used an Empire 600LAC which was surprisingly good, a Shure MV30HE (integrated ARM and cartridge) which was fine if you like heavy bass, a Signet TK7SU (=AT15SL?) which was very good and now uses an AT20SLa, which is magic with the arm. From your list, I'm familiar with the DV10x5, which I think is more suited for heavier arms than the SME III, while Ortofon Super OM30 probably would sing. In general high compliance MM's are the way to go with the SME III, while MC's and optional FD200 damping might work, but I do not think you'll get the optimal performance from the arm by "misusing" it for a MC.
The Shure V15 and Denon DL-301/II would be good choices.
