Have you managed to fix that Dual ?Got that RekoKut running after all these years ?
Well, this needs a little more than some oil and a belt, but...
It might turn out to be a pretty nice deck, all things considered.....
Say yes to your inner Tinkerer. Steve, this means you.

Follow Ups:
........those new pc boards Rolf dug up for his own Prestige project might have been originally intended for this tt..:DActually, chances are good that RK can supply whatever parts are needed to outfit this one. Chances are also good that the prices will be way out of my league.
5 days, 19 hr to go and the price now is $1575. Price-wise, this one's going into EMT territory...no?

Only a Mark Kelly clone could hope to tackle this baby (no pc boards!?), and a starting price of 1 grand makes it a bit dear. Maybe someone will purchase to prop it up on miniature cinder blocks for a 'Parts Thorens'. Pretty cool looking, though if the plinth has got to be purple, better to use purple heart as opposed to that stain.Starting bid notwithstanding, kudos to the seller for the accurate description and high-rez photos.
Agree, in terms of a full-on restoration, at least. As in the Rolf Kelch project at Analog Dept link.
That is thorough.
Disagree, though, on the woodwork, which, at least in most other pictures, looks a good deal deeper and richer.. maybe this is a light-damage victim as well..... Agree too that this seller did do a fair / honest representation with his pix, I think. But I wonder. Those missing pc boards and clusters of wires are not, I think, necessarily a deal breaker...
This listed unit, not counting condition, is about 95%, as is , of what gets sold every day as a 'high-end turntable' --- that is, platter, bearing, topdeck & plinth, armboards, drive-motor, footers, fittings, and a massive design. Isn't that all you basically get with your new basis, vpi, etc etc ?What's missing of course is the logic boards and switching connections, readouts, and the speed control and stability electro-widgetry.
Stuff that doesn't come stock anyway on your average new $2-3k table.Arguable that way or not, who cares ? What stops you from trying a power-up the existing motor (ac, dc, whatever it takes), or, failing that, what stops you from retrofitting ::
1. Easy -- the Origin Live motor & control box
2. Slightly less easy -- the Teres motor and servo-feedbacking system
3. A project --- the well regarded Pabst motor mentioned often 'round here
.... ? ....If only as a 'starter' kit while you gather your resources and braincells for a full-er restoration effort ?
Maybe that's crazy, but I think if I lived nearby enough to consider it, I'd consider it. Especially when you pause to actually consider what kind of competition a grand buys these days. A Rega P5 ($1300) or something ? Hm.

All good points. I thought of the 'simple resto' you described, i.e. hook up the motor and the on/off switch, and go at it, but the starting price still seemed a little steep. And then my sense of aesthetics kicked in, thinking about the row of switches that no longer have any function. Sort of like the plastic dashboard plugs in your car that serve as a reminder of all the options you didn't buy.No doubt the bearing/platter/deck/armboards are very well machined, so perhaps it's more of a fair deal than I'm allowing it. And, as per your photo, it's a showpiece.
If it doesn't sell, maybe a 500.00 offer.....?
" Sort of like the plastic dashboard plugs in your car that serve as a reminder of all the options you didn't buy ... "True, very true. Nothing stupider... uhm, well.... the one thing that's stupider, since after all it's car interiors being discussed ....
What's with the "Looks Almost Like" aesthetic in car interiors ?
Go, sit in the driver's seat of the car, and look around ......This surface looksalmostlike a nice Hardwood panel, you know, Almost Burled Briar Wood . Nice, huh ?
And that bit of trim looksalmostlike a thick plate of polished chrome, this bucket seat looksalmostlike luxurious leather, with seams that lookalmostlike hand-crafted stitches ...... F*ckin Crap ! What a nightmare of Fake !
Even as you afford better and better cars, a lot of this is still just a better level of Fake.
Changed my mind --- just don't look, it's a scam you'll never be happy about again.MMMmmmmm. Smells almost-like a new car.
This is a luxury fixer-upper. Rolf Kelch restored a Prestige in much worse condition so he should be able to get this one up and running. At a price of course.
Me, i'm proud i got a Dual 1219 up and running, at least on 33RPM. An amazingly good 10 euro fixer-upper with an AT15XE cart!
