IF I get the urge to do so. In fact, since I did have the experience that I did, I listened to the LP...but at the time of going through the LPs the day before yesterday I felt that there MIGHT be a chance I'd never listen to it, especially since the one LP was missing. I use any excuse to cull. One only has so much room, although I have lots of room (the basement's huge!).I have a large collection only for that reason...that I MAY want to listen to something, not that I AM going to listen to it. Often, it's someone's post here at AA that makes me think, "Wow, I have that! I'll just throw it on the 'table right now!
The chances of me listening to every LP I own in this life are slim to none. BUT, if I can take them with me, and be able to visit this board and get the urge, I'll listen to them in my next plane of existence. Unless I'm a cow or a cockroach.

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!

I think you'll be a puppy. I just hope you don't chew up too much stuff. ;)
Hey Mikey,
Did you ever find any nice UK press Gentle Giant LP's?I believe you had said that all you had was one later US press LP...
Cheers,
Me, I'm just a lawnmower, you can tell me by the way I walk....

One Gentle Giant...that's as depressing and embarrassing as having only one Richard Thompson; and that's the truth! But, when you pretty much buy nothing but OTHER's used LPs, you take what you can get. I can't complain, I've been incredibly lucky! If I buy at a used record store it's pretty much always going to be Jazz.

...so it's kind of like buying an "option to listen" at a later time, if ever the mood strikes. that makes sense!it can be frustrating when you get an urge to listen to something -- NOW -- and you don't have it. at least digital downloads have made it possible to at least listen to SOME version immediately and get that gratification, for "those times" when you need a fix and don't have the vinyl around.
I never thought about assuaging that "I gotta hear..." by downloading a clip. I really am a dinosaur, aren't I?I wonder if I can find the version of "Naima" from "Milestone Jazz Stars" that I've been "burning" to listen to for quite a while?

150 versions of 'naima' are available immediately in iTunes for $0.99. :)
Do they got 200 gram, 45 RPM, virgin vinyl, non-carbonated, poly-unsaturated pressings of
Steely Dan's Aja? I'd trade both of my Coltrane records for that!
