Check out the two for sale on ebay. What gives?
Follow Ups:
Pioneer for some unknown reason would reuse model #'s for turntables.
There are actually 3 for sale. 2 80's tables that actually sound decent, and 1 older suspended one that looks pretty well put together, but I haven't heard it.On the other hand, there is a Micro Seiki DQ-3 listed with a Shure V15 type 4 cart that is completely superior. You may be able to get it pretty cheaply.
It features a state-of-the-art direct drive system giving you total platter isolation, rock-solid speed stability, the exceptional MA-707 tonearm, and a select plywood plinth and finish.
It current sell's for around $350 US, and is as good as your going to get for the price. Add a michell clamp for best results.
No doubt a Micro would be a much better choice if repairs or
lack of enter the equation. Plug, play, and forget?
Which models do you recommend?
Besides the DQ-3, there's the BL-51 ($3-500), BL-51 X (air, oil, spring damped feet $5-700), DD-40 (direct-drive, most common, $150-350), and the DQ-50 (direct-drive, least common, $500 with non-funtioning pneumatic feet to $800 in good shape, check condition). All of the above models are affordable, hi-end manual tables.
Thank's; hell of a site, how did you find it? Didn't show up
on Google or maybe I missed it. Surprising # of different models;
and those you mentioned are the ones to shoot for?
Yes. I also recommend the DD-40 as well as the BL-10X as bulletproof semi-auto's.
I assume it's fully manual? Wonder why the seller doesn't know that since he claims he was the original owner?
It's fully manual. He probably hasn't used it in years.
I see 4 with that model description, and one is an idler obviously different than the other 3.
So, what is it you don't understand?
It should seem obvious; two of the units with the
same numerical designation look completely different.
what it was you didn't understand... I thought maybe you seen something I missed, which is why I posted.

I read the post, did the Ebay search, found 4, with one being Japanese only model with same model number, but different table. At that point, it was unclear to me what he didn't understand, maybe something I am missing? so I asked...
It appears that he is exploring the possibilities of acquiring a turntable at the price that he wants to invest. The two PL-7s are radically different, and he understandably wanted to know why. Nonetheless, George Mann was correct to steer him in an alternate direction. A Micro Seiki would be vastly superior, as would a Luxman (mentioned in a thread below), a Thorens, or a Dual.
