I am searching for a new hi-end turntable. My current short list includes the Brinkmann Balanced and Kuzma XL tables. I would like any input from those who have heard first hand (or better yet own) one of these tables. Also, if there are any other suggestions please let me know. My tonearm is a Schroeder Reference.
Follow Ups:
I would consider one of the Galibier table. I listened to Thom's Gavia with Stelvio platter, which qualifies as some of the best analog playback I have heard to date. More affordable than the Brinkman too (although I have not listened to Brinkman as much yet)...Thoms a pleasure to deal with - I visited him in Denver and he took the time to sit down with me for several hours chatting about tables and listening to difference between the different tables. No pressure and no limit to the time although I only expressed interest in his entry-level Serac :)

I think I have my "final" turntable", a SOTA Cosmos IV Vacuum. This is why I think that is so:I have owned about a dozen tables over the past 25 years. With each upgrade or change, things usually got better, sometimes a little bit in one or more areas, sometimes a lot better in a few areas. My previous table before the Cosmos was a Stabi Reference, and when I moved my arm and cartridge to the Cosmos, EVERYTHING got a LOT better. It was not just an incremental improvement.
You can certainly spend more money, but I suggest that SOTA makes tables that are competitive with some of the very best available today.
Happy listening.
Vacuum hold-down is the only way to go! ;-)I think it really makes a difference.
Anyway, my SOTA Millennia Vacuum with SME V is the best turntable I've ever owned and also the best sounding turntable I've ever heard.
The Brinkmann's sound tends toward mauve. Go with the Kuzma.
