Does anyone know if the platter/ring from an Empire 598 would be interchangeable onto a 698?Any info is appreciated!
Follow Ups:
actually they are the same TT EXCEPT the arm and cueing. Most 698's have an enclosed motor but it is still the famous PABST made in Germany
Same suspension, same platter, same ring,
598 arm will work with 698 but will not have the electronic cueing,
698 arm will work with 598 but you will have to manual cue.
598 and 698 use same tone arm cable,
398/498 arm will also work but will have to use the 398/498 tone arm cable as well. And cueing will be all manual.
The 698 tonarm has famale plug on the arm and the 598 has a male.
The 698 cable has a 5 pin male and the 598 has a 5 pin female
598 qnd 698 use the SAME cable!I have had 40 of them in the past and now have 11 of them.
398 and 498 have male arm connection.
598 and 698 have female arm connection.
I bought a extra 698 cable from someone and it came with the female connector and of course didnt work. I just thought it must have been for the 598....
Don't think so, all of my 598's have female for tonearm and male for cable to RCA jacks.
The Empire 698 rings external diameter is 305mm
The internal diameter is 235mm
Ring is 22mm thickGrins
Yes, there is 598, 598-II and 598-IIII have several of each.
As well as three 698's.
Oh, and two 498's and three 398's, and two 208's.
too many turntables, too little time!GW
