You probably have a small bubble level which is maybe 1 1/2" wide. How do you know it is accurate? Not all levels are accurate. They even come from the store that way. I always check a level before I use it. i learned that lesson after I used an inaccurate level which caused me to get things fouled up. The 9" work much better. Now, before you buy it, read about how to determine its accuracy. Follow the link.
BTW, you don't need a high $$$ one. Should cost you about $6-8.
Life has lots of trials and lots of music to help us through them.

I got the digital one that Craftsman makes for last Xmas. It's a bit more than $6-$8 but it works great.
That'll work, but I'm still an analog man.
Now, have you checked it for accuracy?

The only way to do that is to use a torpedo bubble level. It kind of takes us full circle, doesn't it?
