You'll have to be open to new sonic vistas to really appreciate the music of the late Russian composer Alfred Schnittke, but to me, his music has merit. If ever given a chance, listen to him for awhile. Allow the music to develope.....you might find it interesting!

I am just curious; my last memories of listening to records pressed by Melodiya go back to late eighties back home, when I had no serious playback equipment to speak of, but I loved it anyway, of course :)
.....This one says it's a digital recording, by the way...Yeah, i'm aware of it and live with it. A recording like this is RARE and you have to take it anyway you can. The recording by the way is outstanding...........really wide soundstage.
I have some ancient Melodiyas as well as 70s and 80s stereo. All of my Shostakovich string quartets are beautiful. I could say the same for all the the later recordings. The older ones are a bit ragged.........but the music is worth it for me......but what do I know........I listen to mono recordings!!
