I would be grateful for advice on this. I have a Stanton 681EEE cartridge with (I believe) original stylus on my TD125 mkII with original tonearm. The Stanton has 3mm spacers under the headshell and the brush is in use. What VTF should I be using? I have it at 1.75 grams and it sounds great, but I have no experience with these carts w/ brushes, which are meant to have a damping effect, I understand. I am not against removing the brush.
VTA is set so tonearm is level. VTF is measured with Shure balance gauge.
Thanks,
Pete
Follow Ups:
I like the Stanton 681's (and 881's) but I always removed the brush as I thought they were rather noisy.
I'd try increasing it to something like 2.2 or 2.3 grams (brush on, for effective values of 1.2 or 1.3 grams.) Just to be on the safe side re: mistracking and wear.I've also got a 681EEE with vintage '80s stylus on a 125, albeit an MkI. Lovely combo!
Thanks. Sounds better now.
