....how come no one has bid on this one? Is this not a good deal?Oz
Follow Ups:
opening bid is enough to put anyone off.

i think even if they want them a lot of people think ideler wheels are getting overpriced. They can be found cheaply and lenco's are still a lot easier to find than thorens or certain other brands. I think one can say it's worth it compared to what other tables cost, but I still think it's high market value.
No discussion of the restoration of the table itself.Plinth was botched. "Not perfect" means screwed up. A plinth is pretty simple, in the cosmetic sense. If you can't get the corners squared, it was no "master craftsman" who made it.
$900 for that?
Hello?
...that turntable is worth $200 again. LOL
The owner is a fantastic guy and a super audio nut....reminds me of me... He owns tubes so he is smart as well!He is happy with the sound, but the plinth is rough. The only reason he is selling it is because he is getting a new MEGA Jean Nantais plinth (70+ lbs of plinthing madness).
I hope to compare the big plinth to the standard Home Despot plinth on my next visit to Portland sometime in July. His friend has the original Nantais style plinth. I wonder if the heavier plinth will make a dramatic difference to the Lenco platform?
My Rek O Kut LP-34 exhibited more bass and more growl and had a better fleshed out midrange. That said the Lenco is worth every penny of 900 dollars. It gives you speed accuracy and prat that exhibit the magic of idler drives.
someone will wait til the last second and try to get it for as close to the starting bid as possible.

My guess would be that Lencos* mostly find their install base among the DIY crowd. 900$ is on the expensive side if you know your DIY.Half of the fun (at least!) for these people comes from the planning of the project & the putting-it-all-together.
The rest of us buys a Scout or an SL-1210. ;-)
(*Insert Rek-O-Kut, Empire etc. at your own leisure.)
...that people either want to do the job themselves or, if they are spending that money, want to have a relationship with whomever is doing the work (which is not meant to reflect in ANY way on the seller of this particular item). In fact, it would be my suggestion to carefully ask and even obtain references if you are having someone build/restore a table because taking for granted without first-hand verification from someone you trust that someone else will do a good job is not at all wise.
