JB> I'm looking to pull my old Revox TT out of storage and start using it in my currently phono pre-amp less system. I don't want to drop a ton of money but it looks like you can get a half-way decent pre-amp from NAD, Cambridge, or Parasound for under $150 and I was just wondering if anybody's had any experience with any of these and what you thought about the three.
Follow Ups:
I don't think I'll ever need the MC capability and while the 640P may be better I didn't want to really go much more than the $100 price for the 540P at tis time.
I had the zphono and I liked it a lot but it died after 6 months usage. Because I purchased through a non-authorized dealer (I didn't know they weren't authorized - Acoustic Sounds) I was SOL. (apparently Audio Advisor is the only authorized online dealer). I replaced it with a Cambridge 640p and have been pretty happy.FYI, the zphono has a higher gain than the Cambridge.
The Hagerman Bugle is the best phono amp value that I know of...only $120 assembled...with free shipping in the US!

if it has the power supply it's over. That is definitly the way to go.
Music seemed to dissapear when I plugged in the NAD. The Cambrdige 540p was better at detail, fuller sound overall.I plan on using it again while I upgrade my Bugle phono pre. I willupgrade the opoamps in the Cambrdge before putting it back in and anticiapte improving it vastly. So for less than $150 the Cambrdige (to me) is better than the NAD and can be modded at a trivial cost to be several times better.
Besides giving LO MC capability, it also features passive RIAA equalization vs the less desirable active EQ in the 540P.

i was only answering the question directly. AND since I got that 540p I still think it is AOK ... but that don't mean I wasn't considering a 640p when I thinking of moving on from it. ;-)Ultimately I got the Bugle Pro and am glad I did. But, of course, you leap frogged me with the Cornet so now I am filled with resentment and jealosy. :-)

Used Musical Fidelity XLP(S) can be had for under 150. Creek, Rotel, Project phonobox SE. Graham Slee. DIY, Bottlehead. Lots of options. I would skip the NAD PP1, nice to get started but you'll want to upgrade soon.

I think it's a good phono pre. If I had to replace the Seduction, I wouldn't hesitate to get the Cambridge.
