Yeah, now that's a real heavyweight.
Syl Sylvain & the Criminals, Bowery Butterflies.
Picked it today, probably won't get to hear it until later this weekend though.

"Music is love"

A compilation of unreleased demos that Sylvain picked himself as the best versions of his own songs.
It's on the Munster label.

Years ago I picked up the Munster 220 gram reissue of the Cramps "Purple Knif" show, a double lp in a gatefold. Almost as heavy as a box set...

Really good. It isn't actually a Cramps show; it was a radio show Lux Interior hosted in the 80s, where he spun stuff from his record collection. Some of it is pretty obscure, but really fun and the sound is a cut above some of the other comps of that type of material. And the jacket is beautiful.
I haven't heard it yet, but the packaging is excellent. Liner notes by Nina Antonia, NYD maven.

I believe that was 220 gram as well. It was the "Thunder Express" record. The pressing quality was fine, but the sound quality of the tape (live, studio rehersal thing) was pretty rough. Music was okay, but not essential to me.
I like the MC5 to a degree. The songs "Teenage Lust," and "American Ruse" are outstanding, but other than that they don't do much for me.
But the New York Dolls family tree is another story. I like that stuff a lot. Especially Johnny Thunders.

Embarrassingly, I haven't yet checked out the post Dolls stuff yet. I need to hurry up with that. My hesitation is the feeling it'll be a let down compared to the Dolls. For instance, I really like the Dead Boys, but Lords of the New Church (post Dead Boys project) did nothing for me.
