I recently purchased a new turntable that included a box of vinyl. I normally don't purchase this type of music (mainly all audiophile pressings) but I was curious to hear what they sounded like. Dead can Dance really sticks out. WOW! I own nothing else like this. (Except maybe Deep Forest and Enigma which sit on my shelf unplayed)Last night my wife came down with my one year old and we all danced around my system like a strange tribe worshipping a bonfire. My son had a smile from ear to ear and we had way too much fun!
What a great sounding album ! Sounds floated around my room in a way that was almost scary. Not my favorite music, but 100% fun factor !
Follow Ups:
My son is 18 mos. old -- clearly you have made better career choices than I have based on your TT setup ;)Ironically, DcD was one of the CDs we brought to the delivery room while she was in labor -- and we will never listen to it again :)

Mine is 8 month old. Haven't played Dead Can Dance, but he loves female Jazz Vocals folk music
That record is VERY hard to find and the music is great to boot, enjoy!
I have the vinyl also, Great Albums, like all the Dead Can Dance stuff I have heard...
Not in my normal rotation but still fun to spin from time to time. I like listening to Brendan Perry more than Lisa. Another band along similar lines is Cocteau Twins.
So be careful with it, whichever one it is!!!!! I saw a 2LP live set go on Ebay for close to $400. Most of their LP's fetch $20-$100 used as they are rare and OOP. One of my favorite bands of all-time, and I only have 1 LP due to crazy prices.
I picked it up Toward The Within (the double live LP) at Amoeba's a few years ago for $12! I had no idea it was worth THAT much now! Fortunately I have all their albums on vinyl except for Into The Labyrinth and Spiritchaser (the one our original poster was listening (and dancing) to). All their records are great and worth seeking out.
It was one of only 500 made. Some rare LP signed by both Lisa and Brendan numbered copies. It was from A Chicago live show as I recall. Spiritchaser can fetch $80-100 and Towards The Within is always good for $50-$75 so don't feel too bad!!!!!!!
It's the triple LP set from the last tour, that makes more sense.

When my boys were little they always asked for Paul Simon, 50 ways to Leave Your Lover. They would dance around the room singing. After a few plays, they knew the lyrics perfectly.
I have many copies of that album. I'll give it a try. (He's only one year old but we'll see if he likes itListening to vinyl with the family is a great thing. My parents played music for me that I will never forget. I hope this hobby brings music to my child as well.
