"We've made some important changes to Feedback.
To give buyers the opportunity to provide more details about their trading experiences, we're introducing detailed seller ratings.
In addition to leaving an overall Feedback rating for each transaction, buyers can rate sellers on the accuracy of the item description, communication, shipping time, and shipping and handling charges. Learn about our new detailed seller ratings."
Follow Ups:
A few important points:1) The new detailed ratings are only reported as an average.
2) Ratings from each buyer aren't reported the way regular feedback is. (i.e. the seller can't tell how a buyer rated them with certainty).
3) Changes to the average are delayed so it is harder to correlate changes in the averages to a specific buyer.
4) ratings aren't reported at all until at least 10 ratings are received. This gives the buyer more freedom to honestly evaluate the seller without fear of retaliatory negative feedback. The buyer can give overall positive feedback but negative in the detailed ratings.
I also like the fact that areas like poor communication and slow shipping are rated. These are two areas where otherwise decent sellers often need improvement. Hopefully they will get the hint when these ratings show up as poor.
This might "water down" the message, which should be clear and fast for the potential buyer to read: good? bad? neutral? say why in 25 words or so... Next...But now, "Yyyyyyes, but, but, but..."
Then the seller will retaliate with plenty of humbug to alter his own positive feedback about the buyer...
Seems to work OK.AFAIK it only applies to buyer's feedback on sellers.
