I just listened to Abbey Road on a purple label (and Rubber Soul on an orange one) with a Technics SLD2/ShureV15III-"E" stylus) and it was just great. I know that people look down on these, but the sound was fine.
Follow Ups:
It sounds almost as good as the Uk stuff and it contains the diffrent mix versions of the Revolver tracks.
Look for one with hand written matrix and stampers.
It's the best sounding Capital pressing I have absolutly KILLS the Rainbow label Y&T
....won't pick apart the sound on these. You'll get more of a smooth, warm sound, and the music will sound good.
Well, lets put it this way. They were the last vinyl issues from Capital by the Beatles. One thing I have heard is that the vinyl is better than the previous releases. That alone makes it worth while to me.
If it sounds good... then enjoy it.
I have many issues that are neither of collectable grade or snob value...but they still 'cook with gas' when your in the mood, and are cheap.
