What VTF do you have it set at. You should have a stylus pressure guage. It may not have been set up correctly at the factory. The stylus could also be defective.

The VTF is 1.75g, recommended by the MMF-5's manual. Even if I lower
the VTF to say, 1.50g, the "clearance" is still pretty much the same.
Not sure. How does it sound? How do you know it's 1.75g? Did you use a stylus guage or go by what the counter weight says?
I've used the counter weight to measure it, but I really doubt that
its too low due to high VTF, since even if I lower the VTF, its still
the same.In this photo, the tonearm is in free air, to side of the platter.
As you can see, the stylus prolongs only about 1.5mm from
the bottom of the cartridge.
It's too difficult to tell whats going on from the photo's. There may not be anything wrong. You do need to get a stylus force guage. The Goldrings do tend to ride low. If it sounds good then I think your fine. Like I said, get a guage.
