Here is a photo I've just took. Its not touching the record, but the distance is very thin, like 0.5mm.

Are you sure your tonearm is parallel with the record surface (VTA)?
However, I see the problem of clearance between the cartridge bottom and the record is caused by the seemingly too-short cantilever. I'd feel the same consternation knowing even a slight warp can cause the tonearm to bounce up, then down on a record. Small undulations and warps are hard to see! Have you experienced any skipping on any records so far?
