Thrift store find today. The record is in poor condition, but an interesting listen. A very young Gary Burton also appears on Joe Morello's "It's About Time" on RCA Living Stereo.
Follow Ups:
Superb in every way. Just Chick and Gary making hairs stand on end. This guy can really play!
when he was just out of Berklee. Blew everybody away!! He was just a kid.
"Man is the only animal that blushes - or needs to" Mark Twain
And I don't have that, but lawd-a-mighty can he play those vibes. And better, almost everything he's done sounds great, too!"New Quartet" is music and sound to die for!

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
I've never seen this album before. Too bad there's a crackling fire in front of the mikes throughout much of it. Perhaps a good clean might help a bit.And with him are
Phil Woods alto sax
Joe Puma, guitar
Bob Brookmeyer trombone
Steve Swallow, bass
Joe Hunt, Ed Shaughnessy, drums
and uncredited flutes, french horn, violas and celli.I'm also a big fan of Bobby Hutcherson. Gary Burton's 2005 CD "Next Generation" is also great, with young musicians I hadn't heard of.
blurry hands!
