I just got some photos in from Holland. This is Dirk van der Sloot's TD160S mkV. Dirk say his table is circa 1991 and has the auto shut-off function like the TD14x series. Tonearm is the TP90. One of Thorens' better arms.-Steve

Thorens used a kind of tough manufactured press board (particle board) with a real hardwood veneer on many their belt drive decks. For instance my TD160 from 1974 had outer cabinetry of particle board covered with Teak veneer. So that is what I would guess this one is. It's Thorens. It's built to last.-Steve

The question I was trying to raise is is the woodgrain fake or real wood? If so what kind?
