Another diamond of the rough sort from the day is Richard Hell & the Voidoids-- "Destiny Street" or "Blank Generation." With the amazing Robert Quine on guitar. Quine helps make what I think is Lou Reed's best live album: "Live in Italy."
Follow Ups:
The Dead Boys, The Fugs, Blue Cheer, MC5, The first 2 Clash LP's, Gang of Four, Joy Division, Mott the Hoople, Early Bowie (he might have missed him too), Stanglers ("Rattus Norvegicus"), Sham 69, Early Generation X, Rezillos, Buzzcocks, etc.
I've got Mott--how about Mick Ralph's guitar in the intro to "Sweet Jane?"--Bowie, MC5 (they're Sundazed repops but so what?)...
London Calling , but still seeking out the rest of it, especially Richard Hell.

I think you can find good 1st, or 2nd pressings of most of these LP's for a good price.I can burn you some a sampler CD if you want some 70's punk to try out. If so, email me.

It's not difficult to find, though you have to search a bit.
When you do find it, it's not expensive.
