.....One of my vinyl disappointments is the lack of "new classical" music available on vinyl......Jim,
I know what you mean. I know I've had to pay a fortune in postage to acquire Soviet composers....Shnittke, Vasks, and others. Was able to find some Szymanowski.......along with Lutoslawski in the USA. Those eastern guys have always been an interest of mine. I'm less familar with new western composers. I need the Kronos Quartet for that....kevin volans, jon hassell, etc

Wow Tom, I'd love to raid your 20th century LP collection :)If you would be interested in hearing performances of music by living composers, a good proportion of so-called "major music schools" in the US run a week long new music festival once a year--new music all day every day and every night. If you're within a drive of a research university it could be worth your while to check it out IMHO. Might even be worthy of a mini-vacation to do so, you might be surprised that you weren't alone. FWIW I used to run one of these music schools and was gratified that each year we would get a handful of folks driving in on vacation time to hear this music.
But from your sample posted today it looks like you could supply VA with a daily TCCPOD (twentieth century classical picture of the day) for a year or more!

I live just south about 30 minutes from the SF Conservatory....home of the Kronos Quartet....San Francisco that is..........thank's for the idea. I really do wish somebody would consider a small vinyl record company for classical/21st century music.
The SFCM has a new-music series throughout the academic year--http://www.sfcm.edu/about/blueprint.aspxAnd on their home page you can sign up for e-mail notices of upcoming events. Pretty slick operation.
I join you in wishing that some (any!) "classical music of our time" was available on vinyl. Guardedly hopeful.
