Looks like the days of Rek O Kut CLD projects for $100 are long gone. I've seen some Thorens 124 sell for less than the recent Rek O Kut sales on E-Pay. On 4/27/07 B12H was $650, on 8/22/07 B12 was $283, 4/16/07 B12H was $356, on 4/12/07 a fair B12 sold at $163, on 4/12/07 a different B12 sold at $163 and change, on 4/9/07 a Rondine sold for $536, and on 4/6/07 a Rondine sold for $220. A broken and abused Junior went for $100 and someone is looking for 400 for another junior.
Follow Ups:
I was looking through an Allied 1960 catalog, and the Rek O Kut B12H was selling for $119. The Garrard 301 was $89.Who has a T12? Uses the EAD motor. This is one deck I have not seen a post on.

I may have another alternative for you. (hush mode on)Dual 1219(hush mode off). It's almost quiet even in the original crappy plinth. 3.1 kg Zamak platter, the same material Thorens used. Washing machine motor. It even has a usable tone arm. Cons: excessive mechanics that mainly cause trouble. Huge dustcover because of the changer spindle!
"The torture never stops"
But I ended up with the Rek O Kut....and now I have purchased 6 of their various models.I like the Rek O Kut because of its excellent bearing and platter. I think the Zamak might be even better platter material.
It's not like some of us haven't just gone overboard telling people
that their vintage RKK allows you to levitate or achieve ultimate
spiritual nirvana with the music, cost only $50.00 to build, and meets or beats anything up to several grand.
Even if it is true,..some have just gone overboard.Irrational exuberance? Maybe. I'll let you know when I get my L-34 up and running.
I started paying close attention to the Ebay Rek-O-Kut items the last 4 months, it went ballistic. 4 months ago I saw a few L34's and others go for less than $100, now they are going for much, much more and there are a lot less of them. I have to say, they are the real deal. The L34 I bought from Tubes, beats my Sota Sapphire, and my 2 heavily modded Thorens. It is dead silent, with an MDF armboard and using an Ironaudio mat, zero idler noise.Maybe the hub-bub about these will quiet down, get back to normal. Yeah, right!!
It is really really rough....plus the platter has this rotate in and out 45 spindle piece that simply has to go! What were they thinking?I disassembled everthing today and tomorrow I will tear down the motor and clean all the parts.
DAMN early Rek O Kuts....every one seems to have a different motor. This one is labeled ROK and has oiling tubes....
It is a shaded pole motor. If I can swing it, I am going to modify this one to run the Pabst Hysteresis three phase 120 V motor.....
I will need to take some measurements tomorrow and see if this can be done. If not, I will eventually machine up the right parts and make it happen anyway....
Be on the look out for any of the N12H belt drive tables. These have the Pabst motor and I see these selling for under 200 dollars routinely. Just the motor alone is worth this price.
Ray O Stat said his VPI was transformed with a Pabst thread drive motor. I know exactly what he means.
I am glad you are liking the Rek O Kut. They have a sense of PRAT and livelyness that is only hinted at with other platforms.
Now for the really important stuff, any recent pics of the Gazebo?
...I'm preparing to trash a couple for the motors. :)
I guess I'll count my blessings. I picked up a B-12H in the same time period on E-bay for what we thought was a more "typical" winning bid.
After the early adopters get out the prices might get back to reasonable. The LP-34 is my personal favorite since it is very easy to modify. The B12G and B12GH are more modern but they lack the same clarity of sound I got from my LP-34 project.
What they do have is that Pabst Motor on the B12GH at least.... Now this might be worth 100-200 bucks all by itself.
