Hello...newbie here. Just a question for you guys who know better. I own an EMPIRE 598 and I am currently using an EMPIRE 999EV/X cartridge. Now, I have a GRADO Ref Platinum and a Shure V15 Type IV both with broken sttylus. Bothe of them have almost the same price for re-tipping or buying an Original SHURE stylus. The question. Which would you recomend I use? I already know hoe my Grado sounded but no idea with the shure. Please give me some advice. Thanks.

Is this the 980 tonearm or a different arm?I would love to know how the Grado worked out on a heavy mass tonearm. Grado recommends 10-16 grams effective mass. My 980 is 17 as I remember.
It is a 990 arm. The GRADO that I havve was used on my other TT ', a PROJECT RPM 9, this was before the RM 9 came out. The sound was...I would say, everything that I wanted. I never had a chance to try it on the 598. So won't the GRADO work with the 990 arm?
The Grado Woodies are only mountable with screws going from the top down. There is no provision whatsoever for bottom up mounting. That is the only way to use my Stock Empire headshell on the 980 arm.I am not sure if your 990 allows top down mounting. The picture makes this look like a possibility!
I sense that a low compliance Dynavector might really sing on your table. My Grado is fairly high compliance at 20 CU. My Denon DL103R sounds excellent on my 980. I hope to do a Sound Smith ruby/line contact stylus retip in the future when the Denon's conical has more hours on it.
I would love to hear from other Empire users about what works best.
I was just thinking. Is there going to be a big difference comparing the sound that the V15 Mk1v will produce compred to the Grado Reference Platinum? Or is there no comparison as one way better than the other?
