In Reply to: Can this Russco plinth be straightened? posted by KWILLIS on April 24, 2007 at 14:47:50:
From all the information I have read on the Russcos, it seems that this is normal. Mine does the same thing. I just completed my plinth for my Studio Pro B last weekend and what I did was to recess the top plate into the plinth to where the top of the plinth is even with the bottom edge under the speed selector. You cannot tell that there is a slight gap in the middle of each side. Look for yourself. If you have any questions, just ask.

I saw your post from the weekend; but not until Monday morning. I didn't comment Monday because by then the post was so far down the page. The job you did on that plinth is incredible. I haven't seen many where so much care and thought was put into it. Absolutely stunning job. Is it possible to have plinth envy??
Ken,There is a chance that the castings are actually produced that way so there is expremely solid contact at the corners and loose in the center area.
Then a radio station could plop it into a fab cut hole with cork or rubber and tighten the thing down solid.
The gasket would work as a cld and render the platten basically vibration free. I bet it was purposely cast for such a mount.
I agree that Kim G's custom plinth is spectacular. His attention to all the small details is very apparent. Superb is the way I like to describe these types of efforts!
Cheers!
if all corners were that way. On this one it is only the rear left that is warped.
