How ironic to listen to this in crappy YouTube sound on my crappy computer speakers. We've definitely moved backwards in some ways.
Follow Ups:
The tracking force of that first RCA stereo ceramic cartridge was 4-5 grams, there was a warning in the service manual to never exceed
five grams with a stereo record.
It's also interesting and ironic that RCA was advertising this hi-fi stereo demo---The demo was played in regular monaural movie theatres and regular mono tv's back then as those were not in stereo yet(I'm sure just like when the first color tv sets were advertised and the folks were watching the ad on a black and white set)...I guess the public just had to imagine what the stereophonic demo sounded like with regards to the separation of the left and right channels??-----Much like when commercials for HDTV, or high def video formats are advertised and most of the public is still watching these commercials on analog sets.Things that make ya go "hmmm".......Regards,
I suppose this just demonstrates that the 'me-too' factor is probably as important as actual improvements in technology. Most folks just go along with the flow, need to have the latest because everyone else does. It is better? Probably not relevant in most cases.
