I think you've narrowed your problem to the arm/cartridge interface. Assuming setup is correct the Akito isn't a really MC friendly arm. I would try one of the better MM carts like a Grado or even a Shure and see if that cures it. Good Luck.

that's the dilemma, I haven't narrowed it down to any particular part for sure. I think it might be this or that but who the heck knows without spending hundreds of dollars. I've already don that trying to match an amp to my speakers and no success yet with that either.
I do know it's set-up properly and playing a test LP confirmed it. I am leary of Grado's and the Shure is scary beacuse you can't get the Boron cantilvered stylus anymore.
I was hoping someone who has this arm would respond and let me know what they wasted their money on and what finally worked LOL. Where are all the Linn guys, I thought the LP12 was still popular here?
that sold them briefly (long story). Fair enough about the Grado and the Shure, I am not really familiar with any other MM carts but many here should be able to point you in the right direction, but it won't be free!

Majority owns an LP12 there and some helpful tips from experienced Linn Dealers.
Ask your question there.
looks like a web-site dedicated to Naim, which appears to be a company that sells everything from embroiderd jackets to CD players. Why would all the Linn owners be there? I'm more confused than ever, was there a falling out with the Linn crown and AA? I've been away for a while and haven't followed this forum closely.
It is indeed a company funded site.Even tho, they parted with Linn years ago, when it comes to an analogue front end, there are still many LP12 users there.
Sorry I don't have any experience with an Akito, but a used Itok for 700$?
