Here you can see how the top and bottom layer fit into the grooves in the bubinga. All glued up, this thing is solid.

Yes, the dados were cut after the internals were complete. After the dados were cut, I cut the rabbet that the table sets in and then I fine tuned the the heighth of the rabbet to be level with the lower part of the table top where the speed lever is.
