Seems like it has been a Joni Mitchell night so far. First, Hissing of Summer Lawns (man I forgot how good that record is!) and now Blue.Happy listening,

Recently picked this up and it certainly has more presence and better dynamics than my original US orange label.

Green label, red cover. Fantastic music and kills the later 6-eye version...

A wonderful LP that I picked up new somewhere in 1979 as a cut-out (most likely at a Montgomery Wards store).Probably picked it up because I had seen Stave's name, working for Miles Davis, and the fact that it was a cut-out, so it was cheap.
And Oh man, has this album meant a lot to me over the years!!!
I absolutely love this LP....
Getting ready for the Denver show on Sunday night. To be perfectly honest, a minidisc dub of a virgin playing of the LP that arrived last week. Minidisc, with a high-end consumer deck, can sound surprisingly good!
I'm jonesing for their 05/04 performance in Seattle...a nice night away from the kids for me and my wife. :-)And C&C is a *great* album (although not as good as 'The Tain')
Boris Belkin, Christoph von Dohnanyi, cond. Cleveland Orch. Live Severance Hall 5.88 broadcast then some church tapes I mastered and mixed.
Played "Emotions Wound", the last cut a few times. Nice Ballad.
Larry can wail out a nice ballad.
We just watched the film "Copying for Beethoven" and could not resist.

One of my favorite albums when I was a kid, I have not heard it in at least 20 years, I will have to put that one in my to be cleaned stack and give it a listen this weekend.
Wonderful!
Later will be Neil Young's Freedom and then perhaps Yo La Tengo. My system is sounding really good tonight.

ever listen to O'Rourke produced Aluminum Group?
Decca SXL 6324An Original Decca SXL in NM+ condition. Wow!
Local record dealer took in about 30 REALLY nice Decca's and EMI's, etc. all NM and original European pressings which were previously owned by a local musician and former member of the Utah Symphony; records which she had purchased while working and living in Europe.
Unfortunately the record dealer knew what they were worth, but $10-$15 each is a steal for NM+ European EMI's and Decca SLX's, and all music I dearly love, so I bought them all. ;-)
Jacqueline du Pré on EMI is SO much better than the Angle series sold in the US.
Crazy Horse / Crazy Horse & Will the Circl Be Unbroken - NGDB
This is the only record I have with Wynton Marsalis. He sure had no problem playing with progressive jazz people when he was coming up. But the music is not 'out' either.
That's a damn good recording.
I have read posts about the labels under then aegis of FANTASY and always thinking that a re-issue is good enough because theoriginals are so-so. Not so in this case. The CONTEMPORARY records in the 80sway dynamic. The sound of the differenct instruments are distinct with no same-sonic-smear between them.Watch someone point out that it is a digital recording! ;-)

Got home late. ist spin of the evening is this newly purchased LP.Boy. does ECM know how to mix down CLEAN and press perfect vinyl!
Dern near takes your breath away in anticipation of saxophonist Dave Liebman to take his breath.

I started playing it out of curiosity, but some of her work is pretty good. It's a strange diversion for me, though. This album is called Primitive Love. AMG likes it better than me, but one song named You Made a Fool of Me is a pleasant surprise. The girl can sing, too.

Although Racer-X is my favorite...might have to go spin that one now. Big Black is IMO the angriest band ever.

I haven't. Totally missed the beat on that one. Sad to say. Has got to be one helluva show.

Was the chance to see Big Black, Naked Raygun, the Replacements and Husker Du all in their prime. As far as angriest bands, I actually give that to Albini part 2, aka "Rapeman".
