And the P5 too. No need to keep it. Especially if it won't outdo the Rega 2000 cdp.
Life has lots of trials and lots of music to help us through them.
Follow Ups:
I have a feeling too many are not being real with themselves. Both formats have ups and downs and both can sound good and bad.Digital is not nearly as bad as many of you make it out to be. Dont look for my Rega P5, its not for sale. I enjoy both vinyl and CD very much. I just hope to match or surpass the sound of my CDP soon.
AAMOF, you might look at my system and see that I have a fairly decent cdp. But vinyl beats it 99% of the time. Even with my previous TT (MMF-7) it won 95% of the time. If your P5 isn't besting the 2000, then there is something amiss IMO. I'm glad you are enjoying your ceedees. I enjoy them sometimes too, but its usually when I'm too lazy to fool with vinyl. And I certainly don't announce it on a vinyl board since such things are usually done to create controversy rather than to help bring light, clarity and a sense of good will.

I have a VPI 16.5 record cleaner and gallons of RRL cleaning fluid.I have every brush you can imagine to clean albums. I have a zerostat gun to reduce static.
I have two MM phono stages, and a step up transformer for MC cartridges.
I've invested in hundreds of special sleeves for my vinyl and for covers to protect my cover. I have well over 1000 albums and a special IKEA bookcase to hold them all.
I have hundredes of audiophile quality vinyl albums. I love collecting vinyl and don't plan to quit soon. As much as I love it, I'll admit I love to hear a CD from time to time. Dam it's nice to hear someting so quiet.
Dam it's nice to hear someting so quiet.I don't know what kind of cartridge you have been running but a good one masks surface noise to the extent that it is comparable to ceedee. My Dynavector 20XL is a champ at it. The Goldring Elite was also very good. Fine line stylus are usually the best at it. I'm not very familiar with the P5, but it should be doing better for you IMO. Thats not to say that the Rega 2000 isn't a good player. It is very good for its price range. But the P5 costs twice as much (I believe). You should be getting better performance

Both do have their ups and downs. A good CD can sound very good. I like a lot of things better on vinyl, so I'm happy to play both.
