Depending on condition, LP12 with Valhalla and Ittok II frequently sold for around $900 on eBay. With Lingo and Cirkus for $1500 sounds like a fair deal.

I also have the option of getting a modded Thorens TD-150 MKII with new Rega RB-300 arm for 645. Should I still get the Linn?
You can buy a 150 MKII for much cheaper. I had an original Linn Sondek. Sonically, it was the most colored table I have ever owned.I replaced it with a Thorens 125 MKII, which was a much better table. I also give the nod to a 150 MKII with its original arm, in proper operating condition.
The post-85 LP-12's are much improved products, but with the price of all of the necessary options, you could have an even better and far less fussy deck.
if you don't know how to set it up correctly.
Is all you need. And when you're finished, drink the beers and spin some LPs.

Got more beer?
I sure need it after five hours of fettling. :\
Buy the Linn. I recommend a wall mount shelf like the Target or Apollo unless you are on a concrete slab. A Neuance shelf to replace the stock platform would be nice too.
Get the Linn! Trust me, I have both.
I don't have an answer, but this may be an interesting read for you.
I have no experience with a Thorens.

I have one, and when set up correctly, it sounds great
Thank you all for your insightful responses. I was leaning to the Linn, but now I'm sold. However, which cartridge would sound the best without breaking the bank.
How much phono gain do you have? What 's the rest of the system? Budget, what constitutes breaking the bank?
I have Quad 63's, Quad 909 amp and Quad 99 preamp. I did get the Linn yesterday and it came with a Monster Cable Genesis 2000 cartridge. I'm not sure what the cartridge is-mm or mc, and whether it's worth keeping or not. It looks by some of the threads that it's a mc, but I'm not sure. It doesn't say Sigma or Alpha. The number on the back of the cartridge is 20302.
The 99 pre's sensitivity for mm is 1,3,7.75mV and 100,300,775uV for moving coil.
