From your description, it sounds like the center recepticle is not gripping the center pin of the RCA connector properly. The best fix would be to replace the female RCA connector on the turntable. However, you could try Monster Cable interconnects with expandable center pins , which are split down the middle so you can spread them out.
Follow Ups:
If you aren't already using Caig DeoxIT Gold, you should begin immediately. Treat every connection in your stereo system including cartridge clips. You will probably notice a difference immediately.
Works surprisingly well.
