I have sifted through 100s of postings and am tired of the search engine... I suppose I am search challenged, but come on...Who was it that put another arm on a Denon turntable? I got a gift of a Denon 60L and want to change out the arm. For those of you with a memory (better than mine for sure...) I worked on this table for a friend and the arm had Pepsi or something spilled on the bearings. I cleaned it up the best I could, but over time the owner used it only a bit and then gave up on it.
I recently helped him with an installation of gear and he insisted that I take the Denon in exchange. I didn't really want to, but it was clear that he wasn't going to keep it ("in the trash" were his words). I couldn't stand it, so I took it and now I am thinking about replacing the arm.
Someone here just did this kind of Kludge recently with spledid results, so I am hunting for help. Anyone remember who??
Follow Ups:
I'm not sure how similiar the DP-60L is to the one I hacked up (my old DP-62L) but removing the arm is not that tough. You can remove the DP_62L's arm from the included circuitry without any adverse side effects. I agree a new heavier plinth would improve things but I haven't the time for that sort of thing lately. Maybe another day.Let me know if you have any questions or need any blabbering from me on the hows and whys of my approach.

We don't shush around here!
Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof
Hi Phil,I included three pics around 800k each, so if you don't have broadband they'll tale forever to download. I can size reduce the pics if you like.
...redone a number of lower and higher-end Denons. In the upper range, we've doen a DP80, DP2500, etc. Put a Grace 840 on a DP2500 to VERY good result. Also, put a Kuzma Stogi Reference and an AT-1009 on a DP80 - IT IS THE BOMB! Keep in mind, however, that in each instance we replaced the plinth. On lower end models which we have been restoring for some local gents, we generally keep the arm, but have put a couple of Linn Basiks on them, too, and a couple of PT-6's.
Good luck
I have an SME 3009... will it fit under there?Pitfalls?
... what you mena by "under there". You mean under the dustcover, allowing for height of the arm. If so, I have no clue. :-)
