Me? I got a Frenchy (Pathe Marconi). I bought it at an outdoor flea market in Vienna, Austria, a couple of summers ago for 20 Euro. Fantastic record.P.S. Hope I'm not insulting any of our Francophile VA colleagues with my monikers.

i would'a paid Eur20 for this one. In general, I avoid the Pathe Marconi pressings. They sometimes command a high premium when labeled "rare", but I'd take a 3rd pressing over a Pathe on most days.
You know, I know people hate Pathe issues. I don't (although, I'd rather have a US pressing, of course). The thing is, they're kind of available, they're not DMMs, and they often represent titles -- like this one -- you don't see too often. My Herbie Nichols Trio, The Real McCoy, Horace Silver "Sabu" and Sonny Clark "Leapin' and Lopin" are all Pathes. I've seen how much U.S. copies of "Leapin" go for. I'll be happy with my Pathe for a while. As to whether or not I've seen this in other pressings, I'm pretty sure I have -- I've just passed it up every time to spend my record dollars on something else once I had it. I've got a spinnin' session planned for tomorrow night with a buddy who's got one for sure, and I don't think it's a, well, Frenchy. I'll check and see what he's got and report back.
cool. i agree that pateh's are not as bad as the reputation they have...but i also don't think they merit the price they sometimes fetch. i'd certainly rank them ahead of the DMMs...but as to whether they are better than a 3rd pressing? hmm....at some point it comes down to cost and availability.
