Hi all,I bought a used SME 3012 tonearm awhile ago. All of it looks fine when I bought it, until I realised the bottom of the arm tube had been modified around the small screw which holds the headshell to the armtube ie. jagged hole with screw shim.
I would like to make this tonearm as mint as I possibly can by changing tonearm cables etc, but the defective arm tube is whats holding me back.
Any ideas?
Thanks beforehand for all the help.

Hi,Unfortunately, the only option is ebay.
SME ran out of parts for these arms a long time ago.
Incidentally, the slot at the base of the headshell was not designed to fix the headshell in place. The neck of the headshell is pressed into the arm tube, and a dome-head screw goes into the tapped hole in the base of the neck to restrict the range of movement of the headshell.
Best regards,
There is a company in australia that sells SME arms or so I am told so I would imagine that they have agents or outlets all over the world.
