I just bought the Technician's Survival kit after realizing that some dullness I was hearing from one of my turntable was likely contamination (with the CBS Labs RIAA record, I was down 4db at 20k before cleaning contacts with alcohol, and 0 down after cleaning) so I decided to buy some DeOxit and clean everything good. I'm not clear from the instructions; do I just put it on and wipe it off, or do I have to let it set overnight regardless of the age of the connector?

And... what I do, is let it sit for a few seconds then wipe off the Deoxit.. then, if needed, I coat again and wipe off.
The Progold I leave on.Good luck
If you use it regularly on all your termination points, cable ends, etc. it will insure that you have a good, clean electrical connection.
After I clean with Deoxit, I always put a coating of Progold on for even better conductivity and protection agains corrosion.
Cant go wrong with both these products.
DeOxIt is not necessarily a contact cleaner. More typical use is for pots. Where the fluid will remain. Just spray a short little burst into the pots wipe away the excess and then work the pot back and forth real good. From your post I'm not sure where you are using the deoxit but it sounds like on open contacts. I think there are better contact cleaners out there and other will weigh in on this. However, I have taken deoxit and sprayed into small container and then used q-tip to apply to contacts in an effort to reduce oxidation. Can't really tell you if this was effective or not but as that was all I had at the time it made me feel better.
