The Ortofon Samba is the long awaited replacement for the MC10 series, in production for almost twenty years. Compared to the MC10/II, it has tighter channel balance, better separation, higher compliance, increased trackability, lower effective tip mass, smaller diameter/length cantilever and lighter tracking. The semi-transparent yellow Noryl (Nylon) body reveals a very clean and tight tolerance inner works.
I'll report on sonics soon.
Looks like a good deal at only $200.
Follow Ups:
requires that you immediately start pulling your hair out. And ... while panicking, asking about how it sounds because someone just offered you a a Zulu 350 v.2, at a really spectacular price. And as everyone knows, the Zulu's body is finished in saphire blue metalflake [with the v.2 sporting airbrushed flames (though there are rumours about, that the Samba will be shortly revised to include an internal light kit, powered by it's own built in generator)].A long thread will then ensue, where many will imply you are nucking futz because you didn't buy the Dreamchaser 50 (which comes with it's own nuclear powered halo). And that you're just wasting your time with a cart that is named after some fru fru dance. You'll respond in good cheer (something about their mother), and then all hell will break loose.
When the dust finally settles, two Aussies, three Brits, a Canuck, and a passel of Yanks will have little boo boos on their eee goes [and will swear off ever trying to help some idjit on a bbs again (well at least until tomorrow)].

You mean it's too inexpensive to be good?
I already knew that.
By all means, do let us know how it sounds!
will changeover to the Yellow Ghost in a day or two. Should be interesting because I think the 103R is amazing.
