I have an opportunity to purchase a Thorens TD-150 MKII with new Rega RB-300 arm for about 700. fully modified. Wondering what you think of this table as I have not had the chance to listen to it.

That's not a bargain in my book. There's a Td150 sans arm for sale now here in Holland for 40 euro with nobody bidding. A new RB300 is 300 euro. Add a couple of tenners in materials and some elbow grease. The spikes/footers will be the most expensive parts you'll need.
The RB 300 is kinda heavy on the springs, they'll need readjusting, maybe you'll want stiffer springs like the Linn.

Man, I want that TD150 if it's 40 euros. I love working on Thorens turntables.Hey Munkie, really like your webpages with all the pictures.
I have a set of 6 records, sealed, never played, called "400 years of Dutch Music" (or, more correctly, "400 Jahr Nederlandse Muziek").
Classical music from Radio Nederland; has Mondrian art on the cover.Does anyone in the Netherlands want this? I wonder if it's rare.
Good arm. Worth maybe $300.
Good table. Worth *maybe* $250. w/ original arm. Is there a good cartridge? Not sure it's a good combination or a good value. You can probably do better new or used for $700. Unless you really like the vintage gear. I do, but the point of getting vintage is it's usually cheaper AND really good.
Obviously, if you love the thing, and have compared, then it's your choice. If you're not a DIYer then the upgrades and work put into it is worth something.
Sounds like the seller is making a profit though, which is fine if that's his professional business.Pete
