Please help me, I keep getting sucked into the digital domain, oh, this is the VINYL aslym, must be improper posting to stir up the vinylphiles from their perfect slumber of listening to records, ha,.Digital = CD / SACD
Vinyl = 33 1/3, 78 or 45 rpm black or colored vinyl. What do you get when you record TO digital from vinyl directly? A CD that sounds almost like vinyl!
What happens when record you FROM digital to vinyl? A new record that sounds like crap!
Ok, back to cleaning my records from my flea market finds today, I will post them later,
Ciao,
Audioquest4life
that's what i want to know.first press CD. Is that double speak or what? <= i wonder if this question will engender the most informative explanation of the far reaches of digitial technology available to us all? Added history of the advent and genesis of digital technology never goes without notice, either.

when you found that moving-picture label thing you have in your posts, did you see one that was frogs jumping around on a lily pads? I had the frog-jumping record when I was a kid....

Crazy when those memories start coming back.

I don't remember playing my frog record very often--we had Voice of Music rig, the changer sat down inside a wooden box so it was hard to see the images in the mirrored spindle.
The records themselves were more expensive than regular records and my old man was a world-class tightwad so the froggy record was the only one we had.
The record didn't last long--this had to be in the 1950's, and my younger brother was a menace. I still remember him breaking 45s over his head (one of them was the Colonel Bogey March from Bridge Over The River Kwai )so he probably whacked the frog record, too.
The mirrored spindle stayed around for a long time though. We had a box of old toys in the corner of the basement and we'd go through them every once in awhile out of kiddie boredom. That spindle would always be there.

Found a couple more animated gifs but no frogs yet.
Still no frogs.
I think the one with tugboat was the flip side of the froggy rekkid.
I realized too late that bird was a red raven (not that, like, you know, it wasn't written in HUGE letter right in front of me peepers). He looks like Heckle or Jekyll.

I can't get enough of this!
I showed these to my wife, she thinks they're great (better than my acutal LPs, in fact).

.. My wife has one of these in terrific shape! It has Tootles the Tug on one side and The little Red Engine on the flip. Even though it's a 78 I thought I would try to play it. BAD idea!! I didn't stop to think about the tin outer perimeter band/edge, and my Benz Ace got within about a half an inch and 'WHACK"...the record just jumped/attracted right onto the cart!!!Alas, I was prepared for the worse, but no damage appears to have occured. Dumb!!!
THis was a fun thread tho, wasn't it.
