Lily Allen - Alright, Still ( limited edition promo )
Hi,I heard that disc in the Clearaudio room at the 2005 CES and haven't been able to get it out of my mind since.
They were playing it on their "Anniversary" turntable and it had some indredible, delicate treble - almost to the point you'd want to reach into the air to try and grab it!
Of course, I forgot the name of the disc and have been ineffectually clicking around the internet for it ever since.
When I saw your post, I had a "EUREKA!" moment!
I owe you the beverage of your choice should we ever meet in person!

Ummm yeah, just foogin wit ya on the Yoko :-) ["the first album to compile Yoko Ono's Billboard Club-charting remixes. Many of these remixes are extremely rare and highly sought after. Collects the best of the lot. Together in one great package"]. From my this week's L.A. Weekly (arts/music throw away) ad, for Amoeba.
Fine Russian avant-garde jazz recorded live in Moscow 20 November, 1983 (Leo LR 137).
Victorialand gets spun at 33 instead of 45. It may sound strange but I think it sounds better that way......
a japanese reissue of a French release (I think)...the label says Erato, Voix d'hor. On top of the great music and rapport that shows between Sebok and Starker through the music, the album cover shows starker in his usual calm playing mode, looking down at his cello, and Sebok in the foreground playing with a cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth....their demeanors and approaches to music may be different...dont know, but end result is superb no matter.

Okay, I've dated myself.

Excellent recording and reissue!
They did an excellent job with their vinyl releases. Too bad they don't do it anymore.
The latter releases were amazing (Power of the Orchestra, Gaite, some of the Readers Digest reissues) but there first set were pretty mediocre. Spain is the worst of the lot (pan left/right stereo) but even releases like Scheherazade are outclassed by their Classic Records counterparts.
.
The Chesky pressing is every bit the equal of the classic re-issue. I have both.

Grinderman is smokin' good. I think the Burnside record would be a good follow up. If my daughter is cooperative, maybe I'll pull out some of the older Nick Cave records too.

Pulled out the marble vinyl, which was a mistake as my black vinyl is far quieter (though the marbled was a radio station copy, so I'm sure that has more to do with it than the fact that its colored.)
So I am listening to a little transistor radio, ESPN. Looks like storms all night according to radar. Hopefully tomorrow.
Went my usual Friday record shopping at a local record store.Cleaned out whatever they had on Bobbie Womack and Donny Hathaway.
I tell ya.. record is a great way to explore deep on artists' work!
I figured out it's cheaper than downloading mp3 tunes off the net.
