I found this baby and it cleaned up nice. I never thought I would find this. How much? $14 including shipping.Funny thing about how they made the covers/jacket. There is a boardwith an indent so that the record slides into the sleeve and rest in an indent ... which makes it not poissible to get a 10" sleeve all the way down. What a mystery. I had to cut the bottom out of the inner sleeve to get the record all the way in.

Interesting info on Goldkette. My step-dad mentioned he was a favorite but I don't recall hearing/seeing any of his recordings in the family collection. Unfortunately, lots of great records were pitched out before I could rescue them. The one exception it the 78 album of Louis Armstrong and the All Stars at Town Hall 1947 which I still have. My recently acquired SP-10 plays 78s so hope to eventually find a proper cartridge to play that set.
Bix Beiderbecke collections - there should be some Goldkette in there.

hearing how you and kavakidd jury-rigged your 10" inner sleeves to fit into the old cover is making me question what i thought was somewhat common practice among the geekier of us - storing the LP out of the cover.generally speaking, i put the record in an inner sleeve and then put both it and the cover into an outersleeve - back to back. this way when i pull a record off the shelf, i don't need to take the cover out of the outer sleeve or more importantly, the record out of the cover - with possible risk to the seams and possibly even the record if there is some debris in there.
anyway, i am generally not what i consider overly cautious - i think nothing of putting my most valuable records on the table for repeated plays, but i have grown fond of my storing the LP next to the cover, not in it. now i wonder if i am a bit crazy and maybe even foolish - am i risking more damage than i am mitigating?
that way you can store the 10" LP within the jacket normally.
Can't find them, though. Only hard paper with the center holes ... worst kind.
though care would be needed since the paper sleeve provides less protection

are among the best jazz records, ever. I have a bunch of those "X" label pressings. They sound great, even compared to the original 78's in some cases.
truly. I was amazed at how good it sounded. A lot more depth and detail than I thought would be the case. Bix, Lang, those guys jump off the record when it is their turn.
on mine. Lots of 10-inchers are that way - unfortunately
