Don't stuff VN45I have a III body with older styli. I will be using it as 2nd setup eventually. On a Mayware Formula 4.
AT 440 is not bright in its MLa iterationaccording to this forum.
Sumiko BPS Evo III and Blackbird are nice sounding. Compliance is not as high as you wish.
How about ADC XLM types? NOS available, don't know quality.

Little point in changing to the xMR as the replacement stylus situation is not much better than the MR. Some patents on the xMR will be more recent, meaning a JICO replacement may be even further in the future.A few dealers still have the VN5MR @ ~$300. I am leary of NOS styli as the suspension material may have deteriorated in storage. I had to send back a VN5G (spherical, very rare) as suspension or cantilever were bad right out of the box. Hopefully the dealer will exhange it towards a VN5MR.
I have a the V15VMR in my family's Ariston/G707 deck in another town. Excellent condition. They hardly use it, even though there is a mint 600 plus LP collection (90% classical) there from the mid 60's to 80's.
the xMR will not fit the earlier bodies. And BTW - it is actually much better than the MR.
