I was doing some research for some maple to make shelves for my new audio rack when I ran into this site. As a woodworker who loves the look of exotic woods, I thought about the many DIY'ers here who might have a love affair with great looking wood. So here it is
Life has lots of trials and lots of music to help us through them.

The quilted Maple on my Viola was cut from a floater....So they go out to a pond, retrieve the log, cut off a slice, and resubmerge the log.
This is probably one reason the wood probably sounds so sweet. It was air dried for 2 years before starting the project.
Do you play with a group, ie quartet, etc?

I plan to restring that ol Viola and join an amateur symphony. Then I can network and start a quartet. I love small ensemble music. I enjoy studio work, but don't think any of that is happening up here in Reno.Cheers.
