I would venture that anyone who did college in those days would share my incredulity at the thought of "minty fresh" copies of any of those records from "those days".Mine were all played to death (in harsh atmospheric conditions...), that's for sure!
Good for you!
Follow Ups:
That stuff costs way more than the vinyl is worth these days..but it sure does taste good..at least that's what I've been told ;-)
Any Lp that was 'seminal' or 'influential' ---- or just really good ... tends to be thrashed thoroughly.Although.
There's always that Hendrix set of WLP's that got sent to the classical-music radio station, or the Father's day gift of a Beatles Uk box that never got played ...
To imagine, at least.
'there's gotta be more of those in "minty" condition just waiting to be found. Another possibility; Viet Nam era. GI comes home in a box. Record collection and all his stuff gets loaded up into the attic. Estate sales..! Hmmmm, starting to think like a vulture.
yeah, I've heard about those, and actually knew a couple of people who got some stuff that way, but never the car, or the set of McIntosh equipment ...and yes, it does feel scavenger-ish, but still better than going to a pawn shop, IMO
...'69 Vette, Red with the 396 and a four speed, 22,000 original miles, in a central Michigan barn. All four wheels were locked up due to the brake calipers being seized solid, ditto for the motor. Every seal/gasket in the drivetrain needed to be replaced. The frame was completely rusted out due to the damp conditions of 20 years on a dirt/mud floor. It was covered in an inch of pigeon shit and the interior was totally mouse eaten and shitted on also.
I learned a hard lesson, sometimes the barn car is really hard to restore!

And they all sound great.
..out there with a lot of both searching AND luck. Glad I always took good care of mine from the get go and sorry I didn't enforce more stridently the "toucha my records, I breaka your hand" rule on others! :-)
