Good, I may be looking for an Ortofon arm for my newly got Thorens table. I thought that a high mass arm was probably needed.
Follow Ups:
OMalleyIMHO The reasonably priced Ortofon Arm , isn't all that good (I'm being charitable) the expensive one is nice, BUT, awfully expensive for what it is, as it's got the SPU / Correct proper thing going for it on high end Purist Vintage Tables thing .
I think you'd be way better off snagging yourself an AT 1005, 1007 or 1009.
i was looking at ebay prices and the one that was on the table was around $250 but the expensive one was up around $1k.AT it is.
There are whole bunch of Ortofon arms - I'm not sure which ones Fred J was referring to as the "cheap one" and the "expensive one" - perhaps the few in current production (in Japan only?) You should be able to find the RS-212 (the non-German version) relatively affordably, particularly if you sell your RB250 to fund it.
I want to keep the Rega on the NAD as a fall back table.Or just keep the arm as a fallback in any case. I ut some work into the arm and kind of don't want to let it go. I've grown attached to it.
Thanks for the reply because it helps me to put together a list of arms to look for after I get the Thorens ready.
