Hi all,Well I installed the TDK-101 motor in place of the original TD-124 motor which was running just slightly fast.
I am pleased to report the speed is running on target now, but that is also with the "magnetic brake" full on...which I hoped wouldn't be the case.
Unfortunately, in removing the whole voltage regulator hub, I lost power to the strobe light, so I will have to go back to the drawing board about that. Still, with my usual strobodisc, the speed is dead on...thank goodness.
Now to fix the strobe and continue on with the rest of the project. Thanks to all who helped with this issue. I am awful glad that TDK-101 came in handy.

Plus it's good to know a potential source of replacement motors if the situation ever comes up.Enjoy,
...was a bad motor?
My guess is the motor, with age, had somehow gotten itself to a speed where the magnetic brake could no longer bring it to the correct adjustment.Either that, or the table never ran at correct speed and every previous owner just didn't care about the difference. To me, the difference in pitch would have driven me insane.

Well, I figured after having the table here for three weeks, now that I have the speed issue resolved, I should take care of the rca solderign and give her a listen.I took a lightly used AT-15XE cartridge and did a quick alignment. I really did not expect much from that 40 plus year old Thorens arm, but it really wasn't so bad at all. Played John Lee Hooker's album...the title escapes me, the one with The Waterfront on it. Very good tracking and nice solid imaging. Are there some folks who leave that arm on there? It seems certainly as good as an AR XA arm.
However, I can't wait to get to installing the SME arm and a really decent cartridge!
